He has gone on to work extensively as a performer, making his West End debut in 2009 playing Mary Sunshine in hit musical “Chicago” alongside Michelle Williams from Destiny’s Child and talk-show legend Jerry Springer.  Other highlights include performing Number 1 Pantomimes with Variety Legends The Krankies and The Chuckle Brothers and Bradley Walsh; performing around the world on P&O’s MV Oriana; and playing Tony Blair in Total Edinburgh Fringe Sellout “Tony Blair The Musical” to critical acclaim. Before the Covid Lockdown Nathan was rehearsing “Orpheus” - a house music opera being staged at London’s The Young Vic - keep your eye peeled for the show next year. 

 

After creating many ‘female’ roles on stage Nathan was persuaded to enter national competition Drag Idol UK 2013 - Britain’s search for the next drag superstar. He was first runner-up and Topsie Redfern was catapulted onto the UK Cabaret Circuit going onto win Best Drag Newcomer in the 2014 Boyz Scene Awards. 

 

Topsie is a regular and popular fixture in some of the UK’s most celebrated Cabaret Venues with regular International appearances. She has a residency at ultra-cool cocktail bar Cellar Door in the heart of London’s theatreland. She’s even made an appearance in a Vodaphone advert.

 

Topsie’s new show “Topsie Redfern’s Crystal Balls” which was nominated to The Latest Loves Award at The Brighton fringe 2021 is currently touring and will be at Guildford Fringe Festival (24th July 2021)  London at The Two Brewers Clapham (29th-31st July 2021) Manchester The Brewers (10th/11th September)

Nathan is an extremely proud Ambassador of UK charity Cancer Is A Drag - www.cancerisadrag.org. He works regularly with The Food Chain Charity and is proud to regularly perform for young people through Drag Queen Storytime UK.
